Guitarist Dies Aboard Band's Tour Bus

Casey Calvert, guitarist for the band Hawthorne Heights, died Friday while on the band's tour bus. There has been no ruling on the cause of death, though it has been reported that Calvert suffered from asthma and that may have played a role.

The band posted a message on their website Saturday that read, in part, "At this time we're not sure what exactly happened. Just last night he was joking around with everyone before he went to bed. We can say with absolute certainty that he was not doing anything illegal."

Hawthorne Heights was scheduled to play a show in Atlanta tonight, but it was canceled.

33. Are you people kidding?? I'm in the music business and I've never heard of this band. Is this some kind of joke. Hawthorne Heights?!?!?!??! Huh?

34. Wow Mdeezy.......aren't you nice? What's your point? For those that haven't heard of them, there is still much compassion and sympathy for the deceased member of their band. I'm quite sure this is not a joke either, jackass.

35. Breath.. Thank you for taking the time to share with us your comment. It is helpful to remind us that Casey is at peace and in a happy place. He will be missed by many here. My heart hurts for his family and his band members. I hope the band writes a song about him that way those that didn't know him will have the opportunity to do so. Looking at his picture....I see a fun, loving, relaxed kind of guy. God will hold him in his hands just as he will hold us all one day....my prayers are with those who have heavy and broken hearts.

36. We feel so sad for the news. He got many big fans on pluscuid.com, especially those beautiful young girls. People can see the topic about him on the forum.

38. Its always sad when someone so young dies. Especially on a day when an NFL star and an ex-hair bander all die. My sympathies go out to all the families.

39. My heart an prayers goes out to his family, friends and fans. I myself have asthma...something I did not realized until working on my master's in college. Just as many have expressed their own personal experiences with asthma, I can complete understand and relate to the fear. I've had several emergency room visits that scared the life out of the rest of my family and friends. And I've had a couple of scares were a visit to the emergency room was not an option. The worst I most vividly remember was a business trip to NY right after 911 while in mid air on a plan. Thank god there was a doctor on board and the fast reaction of a mother flying with her 3 year who had asthma as well. The mother, realizing what was happening, took her child’s inhaler out of her person and used it with me.

Unfortunately for me, I have a tragic childhood memory of a neighbor going back to college on a bus and dying of an asthma attack….much like this talented person did at such a young age. Asthma is not a joke and it’s not to be taken lightly. I have the hardest convincing myself the seriousness of the disease because I’m an active person who skydive, scuba dive, repels and etc. Yet the older I get, the more my previous incidents pop into the back of my mind causing panic attacks……thus leading to asthma attacks.

My heart and soul goes out to anyone dealing with asthma because most people without it just don’t understand.

Actually you're both right, but wrong for being on your high horses!

cancelled and canceled are both correct. you shouldnt tell anyone to get a dictionary since you are having problems using one yourself

41. People, this is NOT a spelling bee. It's a death, a tragic death due to a horrendous illness. Take a deep breath and thank the stars you can.

42. Sad news...
i played a role in the NikkiFM video; i was the dad. i only met the guys that day, but they were great folks and Casey was fine person and musician. He had the "growl" voice that added so much to the unique sound of HH.
my sympathies and prayers go out the the guys in the band. i know it's hard, but i sure do hope that HH rises from the ashes to continue their musical journey.

peace in your heart,

43.

Death
Life is something we should appreciate and adore
because there comes a time in life our services are not needed
anymore.

A time in life when we are the next step closer
and if you have done what He asked, the struggle is over.

A time when one passes from this world to another--
a time when we lose a family member, friend or lover.

This has been happening long before our existence,
but some think it's a joke until they are convinced.

A time in life that we rejoice and have sorrow, so we
must change our wicked ways,
because that time can come tomorrow.

To have on pass away can leave you emotionally scarred,
but you must maintain your composure and keep your faith in God.

So we must stop the hate and seek forgiveness for our sins,
because whether you know it or not,
death is what we must face in the end.

Written by my son Joseph Lee Alexander/ aka: Lil' Joe
Murder on December 27, 2005, his age at that time was 22.

May God keep the family strong.
He is one of God favors; don't forget.
We have more generations in Heaven then on earth.

44. This truly is sad. I was a huge HH fan, saw them a few months ago, and met all the guys, and Casey was really, really sweet. RIP.
I know many people have not heard of them, they were not on the same KIIS FM scene as so many of the bands we hear today are. They had their own following and fans. He will be missed. So to say that they are no ones is not fair, to someone that appreciates their music, someone like Soulja Boy is a no one...sorry....

45. Good job wordsearcher for looking it up in the dictionary. My condolences to the family and friends of the late guitarist.

To whoever brought it up, why are you so concerned about the misspelling of the word canceled or cancelled when someone has passed away??? I am a stickler for spelling, but the situation at hand far outweighs whether TMZ spelled something right.
